Rock Star (sort of)
After quite a while of not playing at all and getting completely wiped out by even rehearsing I ended up laying twice on one night in two bands :o Thankfully bot at the same event one after another which made sound-check so much easier. Along with Marina on bass I was guitarist in SPeW and then Rude Mechanicals at an event organised by our chum Dean at Walthamstow Trades Hall
We had a great time - Miss Roberts - as ever the face of Rude Mechanicals (see the poster by Dean) - was absolutely splendid - chatting with the audience and even joining them on the dance floor.
SPeW introduced new drummer Dave Morgan - with them for the first time - not that you'd know as the band was so very tight with Gardyloo Spew herself on great form.
The Star Nosed Moles have a great sound, a classic "powerhouse trio" rocking out - blues based and psych tinged- driven by Jeff Bloom's drums.
An oddity of the night was a comedy Bingo interlude (between the 'Moles and SPeW) of about 30 minutes. Apparently a Saturday night staple and favorite of Trades Hall members; clearly much enjoyed, with several of our audience playing bingo for the first time and some neophytes getting very involved. It made for a strange hiatus in proceedings.…
